Carnival in Rio is a queer dream comes true! Samba, costumes, parties, beach, sun, and fun for seven whole days non-stop!! We will provide you with the best and most well located hotel - Ipanema Plaza, so that in between partying and checking out the scene you can enjoy Rio's gay beach right on your door step, as well as the excellent nearby seafood or barbecue restaurants. Day 1

 

(Feb 13th /2008 - Tuesday)

Arrival in Rio de Janeiro and transfer to Hotel Ipanema Plaza. We suggest you to walk along Ipanema Beach and swim in the warm Atlantic or explore the surrounding area of the hotel checking out the nice stores, bars and restaurants. At night you will be transferred to a delicious seafood dinner at Pampa Oceano.

Day 2

 

(Feb 14th /2008 - Wednesday)

Gay over the Rainbow tour (G Brazil exclusive: Rio's main attractions including Corcovado, Sugar Loaf, the city itself - with a look at the gay scene, and learning about amazing historical queer episodes of the city's colonial, imperial and early republican days.

Day 3

 

(Feb 15th /2008 - Thursday)

Queer Estate & Beaches tour (G Brazil exclusive): You arrive for a morning visit to an amazing plantation-turned-museum where the famous Brazilian queer landscape designer, Burle Marx, lived and worked. Then, you will have a mouth watering seafood lunch at Pedra de Guaratiba. In the afternoon we will take you to some of Rio's most beautiful gay beaches, a nudist gay beach (nudity is optional) and Praia da Reserva.

Day 5

 

(Feb 17th /2008 - Saturday)

At 9am you will depart the hotel for a fantastic Hang gliding experience, where you will see all of Rio from a fantastic angle, not to mention an incredible adrenaline rush! At night we will go to one of Rio's coolest clubs - Galeria Cafe.

Day 6

 

(Feb 18th /2008 - Sunday)

You will need some rest from all the partying on the night before, so we only meet to go for lunch at the nearby Casa da Feijoada. The evening is the time for the wonderful Samba Schools Parade: you can sit back and enjoy the show in Rio's impressive Sambodromo.

Day 7

 

(Feb 19th /2008 - Monday)

Half a day free, and in the early afternoon you will go with a fantastic speedboat through the bay all the way around Copacabana and Ipanema beaches (don't forget to wave hello and say goodbye to all the cute gay boys left watching!!) to the beautiful archipelagos of Cagaras Islands. We know you are one of those that like to be seen, so we'll dress you in a gorgeous costume to dance in the parade as well!

Day 8

 

(Feb 20th / 2008- Tuesday)

Early afternoon you will join the Banda de Ipanema, a group of musicians playing traditional samba tunes that is followed by with a huge dancing and singing queer crowd composed of all the rainbow colours of Rio's large GLBT communities, including drag-queens, muscle boyz, bears, and lesbians. At night you are invited to the amazing Gala Gay in Leblon's Scala: the most traditional ball for alternative lifestyles. The number of exotic characters is astounding, and you can count luxury costumes by the dozen.

Day 9

 

(Mar 21st /2008- Wednesday)

Transfer from the Hotel Ipanema Plaza to International airport.

This 2 days and 2 night cruise sails away to Ilha Grande where, on your second night, you will enjoy a fantastic party in Brazil's most famous and beautiful beach Lapis Azul - on the paradise island of Ilha Grande. What a way to end your carnival experience!!!)
  • Luxury Ball at Copacabana Palace: The most glitzy ball in the world taking place at Copacabana Palace on Carnival Saturday. Attractions include a number of local socialites, international stars, actors, soccer players, models from top agencies (on freebies of course), sometimes the mayor... If you like to rub shoulders with the rich and famous, this is the ball you are looking for. Young men and women in masks are hired to entertain. They will invite patrons to the dance floor, so you probably won't be stuck on your chair. Arrive early, and watch the grand entrance of Narcisa Tamborindeguy, a local socialite who lives next door. Black tie or luxury costumes are mandatory. Women will probably want to schedule a visit to a beauty salon, and ask for a special hairdo and make-up.
